So you think you’re not creative? We’re here to prove that ain’t so!

On 21 April 2017, Ideas World Cup Cape Town will host the most invigorating and interactive brainstorming experience the city has ever seen! We’ve invited innovators, disruptors, expert facilitators and neuroscience experts to help you tap into your creative potential and access all the great ideas you have inside your brain – all with the aim of finding solutions to 5 societal and environmental challenges facing our city.

The event is open to people of all ages and we’ll be checking-in with other Ideas World Cup editions across the world via video feeds to make this a globally-connected experience. Cape Town’s goal is to generate 10 000 ideas for its inaugural Ideas World Cup event!

What is the Ideas World Cup?

Ideas World Cup is the first worldwide ideas competition. It is a celebration of dreams and creativity. Dozens of cities from all around the world will compete simultaneously to see which city generates the most ideas. But Ideas World Cup is not simply a competition; it is based on the desire to change the world. We want to offer solutions to the most pressing issues of our society. These are the questions that Ideas World Cup Cape Town will address:

How might we ensure Cape Town’s water security?

Our city faces a water crisis. Share your ideas on how we can resolve our current situation as well as plan for the future.

How can we ease traffic congestion in our city?

Who wants to spend hours of their day in traffic?! Tell us your big or small idea to change the way we get to work each day.

How might we prevent fires in informal settlements?

Our city’s most vulnerable residents need innovative ideas to prevent devastating shack fires. Tell us what you would do!

How can we provide affordable housing in the CBD?

Thousands of Cape Town residents commute for hours to their jobs. Describe how you would create low income housing options in the CBD.

How can we build our city’s capacity for social entrepreneurship?

We have an unlimited supply of great people looking to make a difference in their community. Reveal your ideas on how to empower them.

Have a question you’d like to pose to your community?

Feel free to share it with us using our contact form or our social media platforms and we’ll be happy to include it in our programme!
